Terrell Heritage Society Museum

The Carnegie Building

Located in the Official Texas Historical Carnegie Library Building at 207 N. Frances Street, the museum was founded by and is a major project of the Terrell Heritage Society. The museum collects, preserves and displays artifacts and memorabilia pertaining to the history and cultural heritage of the City of Terrell, the area and it's people. The Carnegie building is itself a significant part of Terrell's heritage having served as the public library for approximately 80 years from it's construction in 1904.
Among the museum's major artifacts is a 1912 Estey pipe organ rebuilt to playing condition. The museum also displays a large collection of memorabilia from the #1 British Flying Training School which trained Royal Air Force and some U.S. Army pilots in Terrell during World war II. This display tells the story of a unique contribution to the war effort.
